Modern Alt Shaggy Mullet

This client had a beautiful curl pattern with medium density, which made it ideal for sculpting with a Feather Texturizing Styling Razor. Using the razor, I was able to organically build out the shape, carving through the hair to create soft, lived-in layers. To create this cut, I began with a thorough cleanse to prep the hair for maximum movement and clarity. Starting at the fringe, I worked methodically toward the back of the head, keeping our focus on preserving as much length in the back as possible to embrace that classic mullet silhouette, while still allowing the natural curls to breathe and bounce. I then used the flat of the blade to subtly remove weight in targeted zones, specifically at the crown and around the ears—areas that often get heavy and disrupt the balance of a cut like this. The Feather razor gave me precision and control without compromising the health or integrity of the curls. It allowed for a seamless, blended finish with no harsh lines or bulk, and it really brought out the natural texture. I also used it to add refined detail around the face, enhancing the overall shape while keeping everything light, effortless, and low-maintenance. This kind of cut grows out beautifully and maintains its textured look without demanding daily styling. I’d describe it as a “modern alt shaggy mullet” a cut that celebrates individuality, amplifies natural curl, and delivers a cool, undone aesthetic that’s both wearable and expressive.
