Faux Razor Mullet for Fine Hair

I call this haircut the "fine hair faux mullet". This cut is perfect for my client with fine hair who wanted movement and body without spending hours styling at home. I used shears to point cut the perimeter, keeping her ends looking full, and the Feather Styling Razor for her face frame, bangs, and layers. I started with the face framing and pulled out all those little “ponytail bits" - the baby hairs that usually get ignored - and used them to our advantage to create a dramatic face frame without cutting too far into the front. That way, she keeps her length and avoids any holes or thinning around her face.

For her layers, I over-directed everything across the head so the shortest pieces pop, while maintaining weight through the ends to keep the hair from looking thinner. I added a bit of channel cutting with the razor on the top layer to give those extra piecey bits that add texture and drama.

For styling, we used mousse and a blow dry spray for volume and style memory, then finished with a dry texture spray to enhance separation in the layers. When tucked behind the ear, we get that faux mullet effect—business in the front, party in the back—without compromising density. The bangs and face frame stay the star of the show!
