Razor Shag with Face Framing Petals

This client wanted a shag cut that gave volume and focused on the front petals. I used my Feather Styling Razor and Feather Styling Razor Standard Blade to set the base of this cut while wet and went in with my shears after to detail it out dry.

The key to this look is all in the shaping and detailing. To get the perfect petals around the face, I prefer to use long strokes with the razor to push the hair towards the face. I also use my razor to enhance the layers and overall shape of the cut by pulling sections forward and carving into the cut to remove weight and promote movement. Whenever cutting these types of cuts I always keep in mind that short hair pushes long.

Truly, cuts like this are so fun for me to do. When it comes to the details I really get zoned in and focus on techniques that help my clients hair not only look good day of, but also every day after with minimal effort!
