"I wasn't quite sure about how good a 'shavette' could be. I have used straight razors in the past and my biggest issue was honing them. I just could not get it right and always needed to have it done. The added expense was not a big as the fact I would have to do without the razor for at least 2-3 weeks. After a few weeks, I like the balance and feel and the blades are actually really good and last a few shaves before they need replacement. The quality of this razor is impressive. "The SR is by far the best straight edge I’ve ever used . I’m comparing them to the best of the best which means I’m comparing it to other feather products. For some reason it shaves better then my dx pearl and SS straight handle. It’s my go-to razor for every shave since I got it in the mail. For any barbers not shaving with feather products you are holding yourself back and not performing to your best if your not using these razor handles and blades (standard professional feather blades). "When you need to shave your face, trim your hair or detail your facial hair or edge up…accept no substitute. This razor handle here melts in your hand and fits like a glove. It also is a cross between the SS and DX. What I mean is it has the weight and dexterity of a DX which is unmatched on the market but it has the finesse ability of an SS. The DX handles are the most premium. They have the heaviest weight and a concave shaped head which makes it the most aggressive. The DX models are the best choice for a luxury experience. The SR handles have a rounder, thicker tip than the DX. It's lighter in weight but works great for shaving thick heavy hair. The SS models are the most economical and lightest in weight. They feature a rounded lip at the tip which helps to push against the skin, raise the hair follicle and allows for a closer shave.

Choosing between the folding or straight Japanese handle is a matter of preference. While the folding handles are more popular, the straight handles have their advantages. They can be good for people with larger hands or for doing more detailed work.

There are five different blades that can be used in Feather Artist Club Razor handles. The Pro20 or Professional Blade is the most versatile and economical. It's the standard go-to blade. The ProGuard Blade is the second most popular due to the built-in guard on each blade. This adds a layer of safety and comfort knowing you are less likely to cut yourself. The ProGuard Blade is great for beginners or those who want extra safety. The Super Blade has the greatest blade exposure so it's best used for taking off thick heavy facial hair.
