"The AS-D2 is the best razor on the market. It’s not mild if properly used and great for beginners and pro’s with any type of facial hair. I have just about all the top of the line razors. Some costing twice as much and nothing is better than my feather !! Nick free razor burn free , etc etc. pure precision it is. I use it daily while the rest sit there and look pretty. Jatai had a Father’s Day sale and I also got it at a steal , but it’s worth every cent at full price. Anyone on the fence should just get it. You will not need any other razor. 40/45 degrees angle and you can’t go wrong. Still love my American and German razors but nothing beats this Japanese razor. I have also brought a couple other items from Jatai they are an outstanding quality company. Hope this helps someone who’s debating on buying one. It will last a lifetime.

"Smooth and Efficient"

"I purchased this razor (with stand) after knowing and reading about it for almost a decade. It was during the Black Friday sales event in 2020 and the price was too good to pass up. Hope Jatai offers the deals again this year!

The AS D2 and the PILS Stainless DE razor from Germany were one of the first all Stainless razors to come to market back then. Everyone said the Feather is too mild. If you have coarse beard hairs, it's not for you. It's a Gillette Tech clone, so don't waste your money since you can pick up Techs from the internet dirt cheap ETC ETC. So, at that time I ended up getting the PILS.

Well, let me tell you something. I'm used to shaving with the famed Muhle R41, the Plisson (Fatip supplied) open comb with the narrow top cap, the Plisson and Fatip with the wider second version cap and the PILS. But the AS D2 gives me the closest and the most comfortable shave of all. I have very coarse facial hair but only on some areas of my face, not all. The D2 loaded with a fresh Feather blade cuts through the whiskers like butter. It also sings as it cuts to let you know what you're doing and how well you're doing it. Just remember to keep the shaving angle, which is narrow, steady at all times against your skin and the contours of your face. And NO PRESSURE. It is indeed a mild shaver, but treat if like you're shaving with the R41 nonetheless. Pay attention to your strokes and the feedback the razor and blade give you. It will let you know if your angle is not optimal. Also, don't make your lather too thick or dry. A slick but thin coating of lather is all that's needed.

The feedback on this razor is amazing. The fit and finish is spectacular. The weight and balance are perfect. And of course, like all things Japanese, the packaging and presentation are world class. It's obvious many hours of work and large quantities of talent went into creating this razor.

"For my 40+ shaving experience with disposable and cartridge razors like Gillett, Schick, Dorco, Bic and many other I never feel so good like today.
First time for may be 30 years I shaved with a classic double-edge safety razor with my new AS-D2.
Just OMG. I could die and never used it. I felt my skin. It was not like a leather bag as I feel usually.
And after several hours after shave every square millimeters of my face still fills touch of this razor. Absolutely no skin irritations,
no any cuts, very clean and soft shaving. Very recommend this Razor to everyone."

FAQ

The benefits of using a double edge or safety razor are that the blades are single edge which can reduce irritation to the skin as there is only 1 blade passing the skin instead of 3-5 blades. Double edge blades are more environmentally friendly as they are made of only stainless steel which is biodegradable. They are also more economical in price than cartridge razor blades. Lastly, double edge blades give a closer shave than cartridge blades.

Shaving with a double edge razor has a learning curve. But once mastered you will gain the benefits to using one. Maintaining the razor at a 30-degree angle to the skin will ensure the closest shave without cutting yourself. Feather Double Edge Razors are specially designed to rest at a 30-degree angle to the skin for the optimal angle. Always using a sharp blade will reduce irritation and ensure clean cuts. Stretching the skin before passing the blade over the skin will create a flat smooth surface to shave over. Taking care of your skin and using a see-through shaving cream also help.

Be sure to rinse and dry the razor handle and blade after every use. Store the handle in a dry place. Avoid dropping it which can damage the parts.
