The beautiful straight handle design, optimal blade exposure and the SUS317 stainless steel rounded head enables ultra-smooth shaving and resists heat, chemicals, and other impurities. The purpose of the rounded tips of the SS Razor is to gently push down the skin and disperse pressure at the blade tip, making it less damaging. The blade head is a spring-mounted, one-touch mechanism and can be easily dismantled and reassembled for cleaning. The razor is autoclavable and disinfectant safe. Sorry to hear about the cuts. What you experienced is not unusual. There is definitely a learning curve to straight razor shaving. We are certain you will get the hang of it soon as it just takes practice. We also suggest that you start with the ProGuard Blades as these blades will be more forgiving on the skin. When you have become comfortable with these blades you can change to Professional or even Super Blades if you have thick, coarse hair.

Yes it is! Also, it would be wise to start with the ProGuard Blades if you are just beginning as they have a built-in guard for your protection. We also have the SR which is a nice hybrid of the SS and DX. Both the SR and DX models are heavier in weight. In the meantime, the SS is a great razor and fun to use! Enjoy!

The DX handles are the most premium. They have the heaviest weight and a concave shaped head which makes it the most aggressive. The DX models are the best choice for a luxury experience. The SR handles have a rounder, thicker tip than the DX. It's lighter in weight but works great for shaving thick heavy hair. The SS models are the most economical and lightest in weight. They feature a rounded lip at the tip which helps to push against the skin, raise the hair follicle and allows for a closer shave.

Choosing between the folding or straight Japanese handle is a matter of preference. While the folding handles are more popular, the straight handles have their advantages. They can be good for people with larger hands or for doing more detailed work.

There are five different blades that can be used in Feather Artist Club Razor handles. The Pro20 or Professional Blade is the most versatile and economical. It's the standard go-to blade. The ProGuard Blade is the second most popular due to the built-in guard on each blade. This adds a layer of safety and comfort knowing you are less likely to cut yourself. The ProGuard Blade is great for beginners or those who want extra safety. The Super Blade has the greatest blade exposure so it's best used for taking off thick heavy facial hair. The Light Blades have little blade exposure. This blade is meant for sensitive skin, fine hair or sparse hair. It's good for shaving peach fuzz as well. The SoftGuard Blades are like the Light Blades except they have a built-in guard on the blade for extra safety.
