A nail nipper is made to cut very thick toenails that standard nail clippers cannot cut. Perhaps the jaws of the nail clipper do not open wide enough to fit the toenail. A nail nipper would be the best option in this case. Nail nippers are also good for greater steering control. You can make the cut you want at the angle you want. Nail nippers are more powerful than nail clippers. So if you need extra cutting juice, a nail nipper is the way to go!

The Nail Nipper with Shield (SS-204) is made fully in Japan, it includes a magnetic shield to prevent nail clippings from flying across the room, it has elastomer handles (as opposed to all stainless steel handles) and it has a �spring loop' for opening and closing (as opposed to a double spring). The SS-204 is also pricier than the SS-202. Both cut thick hard nails and both have blades that curve inward.

The better choice would be the In-Grown Toenail Nipper (SS-203) which can help prevent in-grown nails from getting worse. The SS-202 has blades that curve toward the nail which can lead to cutting the nail too far into the corners. With the In-Grown Nail Nipper (SS-203), the blades curve away from the nail making it easier to create a straight line and not cutting deeply into the corners.
