FAQ

The coarse filing side has a double directional etching (#150 grit) which allows you to file in any direction. The curved nature of the file allows you to file with the curve of the nail. The coarse side will even out any hard edges or uneven curves of the nail. Once the desirable shape is achieved, use the smooth finishing electro-plated side (#320 grit) to soften the edges and give it a smooth feel. Both sides are important in the filing process.

Sure. But filing should be reserve for shaping nails and should not be the main tool for significant trimming.

Metal nail files are more durable and will last longer. They are better suited for artificial nails and thicker nails than disposable emery boards. Emery boards are used in nail salons because they are more hygienic. But if it's just for yourself, a metal one is just fine.
