Is a metal grit nail file better than a disposable emery board nail file?

Metal grit nail files are more durable and will last longer. They are better suited for artificial nails and thicker nails than disposable emery boards. Emery boards are used in nail salons because they are more hygienic. But if it's just for yourself, a metal one is just fine.

Is it okay to just file my nails and not cut them?
