In Japan, it is not unusual for women to get a shave. Women get face, neck and back shaves primarily to exfoliate and to clean up neck and back if it will be exposed. While Japanese women aren’t necessarily hairy, they do get peach fuzz and other small fine hairs that grown on the face, neck and back. Culturally, the Japanese are often concerned with what is being exposed as well as what’s not being exposed. But during special events such as weddings, many women will get their neck and back shaved especially if they will be wearing a kimono. Wearing a kimono in modern times is not as common, but it still happens. Japanese women pay careful attention to their skin and do a lot to maintain healthy skin including exfoliating. Watch this video taken of a Japanese barber shaving a woman’s neck and back with an older Feather Artist Club Razor model. It’s a beautiful and satisfying experience.
