Early 2000’s Cat Woman Halle Berry Shattered Pixie Haircut by Mikey Teeze

This textured pixie was inspired by the iconic Cat Woman movie from the early 2000s with Halle Berry. Mikey Teeze used a Feather Styling Razor to give the cut a shattered effect. The Feather Styling Razor is perfect for creating a razored/shattered look because it makes it easy to stay consistent in technique. The razor can be held in several different ways depending on the section taken or the type of cut. You can see this Artistry CONNECT before and after shot here.

Mikey took vertical sections using a slide cutting technique to maintain length at the front to frame the face and add detail pieces. He then took 1/2″ sections and used a traveling guide around the sides and back, maintaining a little length around the nape and front hairline to give that shattered look. Mikey used a point cutting technique with the razor going in vertically, pressing the guarded blade against the thumb and pulling up – a “grip and pull” method that is easy to do with the guarded blade. For the top, Mikey took about 1″ sections from the crown to the front of the hairline, elevating the hair at 90° and blending into the fringe using a round layer. To detail and finish the cut, he removed weight at the fringe with interior texturizing, holding very little tension in the hair as he slide cuts, feathering length around the ear and blending into the front and back. Mikey also used the razor to clean the neck without risking cutting the skin. After rough drying the hair, he used a fiber paste and pinched the hair to enhance this textured look.
