About My Work:
My client has finer, permed hair which gives the ideal texture to this 1990s-inspired grungy bob; the kicks and pulls really pull the look together and enhance the overall style. I started the cut in the back at the nape using the tip of the razor to release weight so the hair stacks up nicely. The Feather Styling Razor allowed me to easily manipulate the amount of hair removed just by adjusting the amount of pressure used on the razor. I cleaned up the neck using the razor to prevent any shorter pieces from kicking the hair out which affects the way it lays and grows out. As I worked up towards the round, I focused more on removing length and weight at the ends of hair than overall density by twisting the hair in small sections and cutting to break up the texture, giving it essential internal layers with just one cut. On the sides, I over-directed to not lose too much weight, while in the front I added depth and lightened the ends so the bangs easily pushed to the sides to play up the 90s feel of the cut when styled. After applying mousse, I dried using a bucket diffuser to allow natural movement of the hair. To finish the look I added stacked bobby pins to the sides to really capture the 1990s grungy bob look.
