About My Work:

I use various Feather razors every single day behind the chair to create texture, blend, and finish all of my haircuts. I think of all of my haircuts as custom made for every single clients’ different goals, hair textures and lifestyles. I trusted my Feather Artist Club SS Folding Razor for the crisp lines and polished finish of this men’s cut with a bald fade. For the fade, I created a guideline using my clippers open so I can blend the bald line last. Starting at the front and working around the head, I dropped the fade in the back following the natural shape of his occipital bone. I used my Artist Club razor loaded with Feather Artist Club Pro Guard Blades. Holding my razor around 30 degrees, I used a light pressure with my initial pass, and then once I clearly saw the scalp and skin, I went back in with a more firm pressure to remove any stubble left after the initial pass. Typically I’ll refine the transition with a foil shaver but this client’s hair was fine enough that the trimmer was able to blend with the bald hair so the straight razor did the bulk of the work. For his haircut, I used a Feather Styling Razor for a large majority of the top of the hair. I like to use it to put very precise texture in on short fine hair like his; that way I’m not taking off anymore hair than necessary like a thinning shear would do. After applying JATAI Blade Glide, I cut channels of air in the direction I wanted the hair to lay, and used a potato peeling motion on the very end of the hair so it appeared blended with the clipper length hair, but was sure to leave enough weight and length to blend in and hold down the cowlick. To complete the look, the hair was blow dried and styled with a matte styling paste, and finished off with a flexible hold hairspray.
