In this video taken from YouTube, you will learn how to cut a short layered bob haircut using nothing but a Feather Plier Razor. The stylist’s primary focus is to open up the cheek bones with a curtain fringe. The client’s main issue is that her hair is fine but dense so she has problems with volume and getting a broken texture. The stylist uses the razor to give peaks and valleys for more texture, does layering on top and then takes length off so it doesn’t flip on the shoulders. For styling, she uses what she calls the ‘rake and shake’ method to enhance the natural texture. This method gives a beachy lived-in look.
Razor cutting gives the right look when it comes to layering and texture vs. cutting shears. But as you can see in this video, you have to understand cutting angles with a razor to get the right effect. This chin-length layered bob is cute, modern and gives that extra lift and volume the client needed for her fine, dense hair.
